Often, when scanning objects we get a 3D model of low quality. Scanned 3D models have rough surfaces and "smooth" the internal and external faces. Another problem with the 3D scanning are hidden inner surface scanner access to which is restricted.

Stitching multiple scanned 3D models into one

To scan volume elements (example Pic. 2) we need to have expensive equipment that performs 3D scan, or do the so-called 2,5D scanners, through which we get a few 3D models from different sides. With the latter method, the scanning problems basing on 3D models and workpiece during machining. 
This problem is solved with the help of cross-linking (association) scanned 3D models into one. Another advantage of this method is that when a 3D model is obtained by combining high surface quality.
